Summary

The Litogot brothers, 27-year-old John and 24-year-old Barney, enlisted in the 24th Michigan Volunteer Infantry in the summer of 1862. The brothers had this photograph taken, posing together in uniform. John Litogot died four months later at the Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Barney Litogot continued to fight on with his unit for the duration of the Civil War and was wounded during two battles.
