In February 1940, Mickey Rooney and MGM executives were guests of Henry Ford at the Edison Institute. The group was preparing for the premier of the MGM production Young Tom Edison. Rooney, the film's star, and studio executives would take a train supplied by Henry Ford to Port Huron, Michigan. Port Huron was the boyhood home of Thomas Edison and site of the premier.
