John B. Chapman taught in the one-room schools around Dearborn, Michigan, during the early 1870s. Chapman taught a young Henry Ford at the Scotch Settlement School, and when Chapman moved to the Miller School, Henry followed. Chapman later moved to Detroit, but Ford never forgot this teacher. Later, he would add Chapman's Dearborn home to his collection of historic buildings in Greenfield Village.
